Our Process

Mountain West Construction employs a proven step by step process that will ensure customer satisfaction for your home improvement or addition project.

The steps are as follows:

Step One: Project Overview Sheet

Step Two: Initial Site Visit

Step Three: Rough Estimate

Step Four: Design Phase

Step Five: Pre-Construction/ Planning Phase

Step Six: Construction Phase

Step Seven:  Project Completion

STEP ONE: Project Overview Sheet

The project overview sheet is used to determine what type and how large of a construction or remodeling project you are looking at having completed. Please give us as much information as possible so that we may be better prepared for the next step, the initial site visit.

STEP TWO: Initial Site Visit

Once we have a completed project overview sheet, we will schedule a no-charge, no-obligation site visit.

One of the most important things to accomplish in this meeting is for you to evaluate Mountain West Construction as well as feel comfortable with us personally.

In addition, we’ll make sure we have a full and complete understanding of your expectations for your remodeling or home renovation project.

This meeting will take about 1 – 2 hours. We’ll make sketches, take pictures and ask a lot of questions regarding your wants, needs, style, accessories, existing systems etc.

We know any home improvement can be a scary project. There’s often dust and debris, safety concerns, and even communication issues. Let’s face it; we’ll be around a lot during the project. Rest assured. We will bring plenty of referrals with us so you can speak directly with a number of our clients at your convenience.

Once we have identified the details of your home remodel, we’ll ll be able to provide you with a rough estimate.

Why don’t you take a look at some of our resource materials now. You’ll find some tips that will help you prepare for our first project meeting.

STEP THREE: Rough Estimate

We never charge for a project estimate.  We’ll provide you a rough estimate that includes a line item breakdown of costs so you can gauge the project budget. It is pretty detailed and complete. However factors may come up during the project that affect the original estimate. Most often these are due to client upgrades or even a change in the plan due to your home’s original construction.

We’ll also include a list of references with your rough estimate. Again, feel free to to contact them before making your decision. After you have had a few days to review the estimate we will call to discuss questions you may have and to schedule the start of the design process.

STEP FOUR: Design Phase

When you accept the rough estimate and sign a Letter of Intent, the fun begins. Depending on the complexity of your project, we can provide simple sketches or detailed computer generated drawings of your project.

Once we have a finalized concept, we will schedule a meeting to review the project with our tradesmen. Before we begin we will ask that all components are selected to ensure that we stay on schedule and on budget.

Construction Documentation:

In addition to the drawings and specifications that we have completed in the process, we will also present you with a detailed contract outlining the rights and responsibilities of both parties to be used as a “road map” to take us to a successful completion of the project.

STEP FIVE: Pre-Construction/ Planning Phase

The pre-construction/ planning phase starts with a meeting to discuss several topics. We will answer critical questions for you such as:

Construction Start Date

Construction End Date

Production schedule and working hours

How you should prepare your home for the remodel

Parking for our crew

Home security and project safety

Children and pets and their access to the construction area

Dust and damage control

Location of debris and debris control

Location of portable restroom

Location of job sign and document box

Finally, after all the proper preparation, we’ll being the construction phase.

STEP SIX: Construction Phase

The renovation or remodeling construction phase of each project is a very exciting time. After all, you will finally start to see the transformation of your old space to the finished product of your design efforts.

However, because this is a very busy time, it also tends to be stressful for homeowners. It is a disruption in your family’s daily routine and lives. It may be helpful for you to read our article, What to Expect During a Remodel about now.

Mountain West Construction will minimize your stress as much as possible, giving you ample two-way communication to ensure your needs and expectations are met. We encourage you to ask questions and talk to use during the entire project, and especially so during this important phase before moving on to project completion.

STEP SEVEN: Project Completion

The construction phase follows all the way through the final details, including the final “punch list”.

While our goal is to complete all of our projects to perfection, there may be minor details that get overlooked. When your project manager feels that we are substantially complete, we’ll schedule a meeting to “walk through” the project with you and allow you the opportunity review our work and point out any flaws or details about which you have questions.

Once we have completed the items on the punch list, we will present you with your final bill. Mountain West Construction has a reputation for customer satisfaction and completes all work in accordance to the standards of N.A.R.I. and N.H.B.A. If you do have a problem with any of our work in the future, rest assured that we stand behind our guarantee.
